Main Window Options
ChordMate lets you customize your search results based on your personal preferences and guitar type. Here is a list of settings you can change.
- Diagram Size. You can modify the size of the displayed chord diagrams using the Diagram Size slider at the bottom right of the main window.
- Volume. You can modify the volume of the played chords using the Volume slider at the top left of the main window.
- Sort chords. You can sort chords based on musical quality, fret order, or ease of play. For more information on how to do this, see the Basic Search, Chord Order.
- Filter chords. ChordMate lets you filter search results, based on options such as Inversion, Top Note, etc. See Filter for more information.
Guitar Properties
The majority of settings can be customized using the Guitar Properties window. Click on the Guitar button at the top of the main window.
- Alternate tuning. You can change the tuning of your guitar from the default EADGBE. See Alternate Tunings for more information. You can see the current tuning on the status bar at the bottom of the main window.
- Number of frets. You can set the number of frets on your guitar. ChordMate will automatically filter out chords that require a longer fretboard.
- Capo. This lets you set the capo fret. The value 0 means there is no capo. Setting capo fret to 3 means ChordMate will display all chords where there is an implied capo on the 3rd fret. When the capo is activated, you can see the capo fret on the status bar at the bottom of the main window.
- Maximum number of frets in a chord. This lets you choose how many frets your fingers might need to span to play a chord. The default is 4, and the maximum number is 7. Changing the maximum number of frets will affect the diagram size.
- Left-Handed Guitar. This option flips the chord diagrams horizontally to simulate the view from a left-handed guitar.
